Outdoor furniture is exposed to the sun, the rain, andtons of other natural elements. In time, it will start to deteriorate, especially if you do not store it away when it is not being used or if you don’t cover it up. However, there are some rather simple things you can do to restore your outdoor furniture.

Outdoor furniture can be made from a variety of materials. The most common ones are plastic, wrought iron, aluminum and stainless steel, but you can also find items made from vinyl, fiberglass, bronze, or brass. Each material will have its particular strengths and weaknesses, and you must know how to go about cleaning and restoring it. There are specialized cleaners for all sorts of materials, so make sure you choose one that is suitable for the material that your outdoor furniture is made from. Likewise, there will be specific paints so make sure you choose accordingly.

Plastic Furniture: Plastic patio furniture is the most popular as it is lightweight yet durable. It is generally the most affordable option, and many people opt for it as it requires little maintenance and can be cleaned very easily. To restore such furniture, start off by washing it with a suitable cleaner. Once the surface is clean and free from any residue, you can apply a primer and then the paint.

Metal Furniture: If your furniture is made from metals like steel, wrought iron, chrome, or bronze; you would need to use a wire brush or a wire wheel. The first step would be to remove any rust particles that may have developed on the surface. You cannot apply a coating of paint unless the surface has been properly cleaned. Make sure you choose paint that is ideal for the type of metal your furniture is made from. There are often different colors you may choose from, which is a great way to give a totally new look to your furniture.
