Five Ways to Cut Time Spend on Household Chores

The Maids • Nov 14, 2014

Whether you are the stay-at-home parent, working parent, single, or married with no children, it can seem almost impossible to stay on top of your household chores. However, this does not have to be the case. Below are five simple tips to spend less time on your household chores:

Grocery Shop at the Right Time

You should avoid doing your grocery shopping after work if at all possible. Right after work is the time that many people do their shopping, which means that the lines are longer, the parking lot is packed, and it will take up more of your time. One of the best times to shop is early in the morning during the week, just after the grocery stores open, as there are usually not many people shopping at this time. This will allow you to shop quickly and efficiently, without having to

wait in long lines or maneuver around crowded aisles. Also, shopping for the entire week during one shopping trip will also reduce time spend on this household chore.

Stop postponing chores to weekends

Instead of spending 2-3 hours all at one time cleaning your home consider doing some chores during the week to have more free time on the weekends.

Create less laundry

This does not mean that I am encouraging bad hygiene. However, you can wear jeans and pajamas at least 2-3 times before washing, and towels can be re-used for at least a week. In the summer, have kids wear sandals to cut out have so many socks to wash.

Emptying the dishwasher can be a game

You can empty a full dishwasher load in less than 5 minutes. Keep attempting to beat this time and you will find emptying a dishwasher more fun. If you have kids, ask them to try to beat this time and it can be even more exciting.

Enlist assistance

And if your schedule is just very busy, leaving you little time to relax, you may want to consider hiring a professional maid service like The Maids of North Andover, in Massachusetts, to assist you in your cleaning tasks.
